The open-source IoT backend you can talk to

Ingest telemetry over HTTP, MQTT or webhooks, watch it live, and automate with rules that you - and your AI agents - validate before they run.

From first uplink to live dashboard

Ingestion, storage, dashboards and automation in one stack - running on your own hardware with a single command.

Ingest anything

Direct HTTP with per-device secrets, signed webhooks from ChirpStack and The Things Network, or MQTT through the bundled broker.

See it live

A live fleet overview, dashboards, a logs live-tail and a read-only SQL explorer over your TimescaleDB time series.

Automate with confidence

Build flows in a visual rule editor. Graphs are validated before they save, and every run keeps per-node logs.

Works with the hardware you already have

17 verified device profiles out of the box, plus anything that can speak HTTP or MQTT.

Built for the builders everyone else ignores

Between pricing cliffs on one side and cloud complexity walls on the other, there's a platform that's just nice to use.

Agent-ready. Human-safe.

Wire Claude, Cursor or any MCP client to your fleet - through a surface that can't hurt it.

Build by describing

The bundled MCP server lets an agent register devices, send test data and author rules. Validation returns machine-readable issues, so the agent fixes its own mistakes and retries.

> Register a greenhouse temperature sensor, send some test data, and log a warning when temperature exceeds 30.

  • ↳ create_device greenhouse-temp-01
  • ↳ simulate_telemetry 12 datapoints
  • ↳ validate_rule_graph 1 issue · fixing and retrying
  • ↳ validate_rule_graph valid
  • ↳ create_rule “Greenhouse above 30 °C” enabled

Typed tools. Zero delete tools.

Agents can do what you can do in the dashboard, and nothing more. No deletes, no device actuation - disable_rule is the most destructive call there is.

Every payload is replayable

Incoming data lands in an integrations inbox with deduplication. Inspect what failed, fix the decoder, replay it.

Alerts that reach humans

Offline detection and scheduled triggers catch the silence, not just the spikes - then notify by email or Telegram.

Secrets stay secret

Device and integration secrets are encrypted at rest, and every device authenticates its own ingestion.

Open source. Never crippled.

Everything ships in the open. The cloud will sell operation, not permission.

One command, the whole stack

nginx, the API, a migrator and TimescaleDB, packaged with Docker Compose. The demo profile seeds a small farm so the dashboard has something to show immediately.

Questions, answered

What is Sensora?

An open-source IoT backend. It ingests device telemetry over HTTP, webhooks or MQTT, stores it as time series in PostgreSQL with TimescaleDB, shows it live in a dashboard, and runs automations you build in a visual rule editor.

Is it really free?

Yes. Sensora is Apache 2.0 licensed and the self-hosted version is complete - no device caps and no features held back. A hosted Sensora Cloud is in the works for people who would rather not run it themselves.

Which hardware does it support?

Anything that can send HTTP or MQTT. LoRaWAN devices connect through ChirpStack or The Things Network webhooks, and 17 verified device profiles (Milesight, Dragino, SenseCAP, Decentlab and generic HTTP/MQTT) can be imported in one click.

Is it safe to let an AI agent drive it?

That's the design goal. The MCP server exposes 24 typed tools and deliberately leaves out deletes and device actuation. Disabling a rule is the most destructive thing an agent can do, and rule graphs are validated before they are saved.

Does Sensora include user accounts?

Not yet. The self-hosted version is meant for localhost or a trusted network, with optional API keys for the API. For anything internet-facing, put it behind your own auth layer - a reverse proxy, VPN or private network.

I want to ship a product on Sensora. Who do I talk to?

Us. Device claiming, branded customer dashboards and fleet OTA are on the roadmap, and we're shaping them with early partners. Send us a message below.
